"Satoshi Aoben" becomes a "patent maniac"? Submitted 155 items in one and a half years

According to a report recently released by the technology news website The Next Web (TNW), "Satoshi" Craig Wright has applied for a large number of blockchain-related patents since 2017.

Since August 2017, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has published 155 patent applications submitted by Wright.

Wright will only obtain exclusive control of the patent if formally authorized by WIPO. It is understood that whether WIPO grants a patent depends on whether the agency believes it is innovative enough.

TNW stated that in the patents filed by Wright, "blockchain" appeared 114 times, "encrypted digital currency" was mentioned only 6 times, and "Bitcoin" was never mentioned. In addition, the application report also mentioned smart contracts and digital assets.

Some people believe that Wright is a "patent maniac" who tries to make money by accumulating patents related to the blockchain rather than using the patents, that is, charging fees to companies that use the patents.

Last year, it was revealed that Wright had stolen billions of dollars worth of Bitcoin from the estate of David Kleiman, a computer scientist and cybersecurity expert whom many suspect to be one of the developers behind Bitcoin and blockchain technology. As a result, Wright was sued for $4 billion.

David Kleiman's family believes that Wright, realizing they were unaware of Kleiman's property, "forged a series of contracts purporting to transfer Kleiman's assets to Wright or companies controlled by him, and forged Kleiman's signature." ”

In the latest development in this case, software engineer and Bitcoin pioneer Jeff Garzik was subpoenaed by the U.S. District Court. It is understood that Garzik needs to appear in court and provide all evidence that can prove that Kleiman is "Satoshi Nakamoto", as well as all communication records, agreements and documents related to Wright and Kleiman.
