At present, Tai Optoelectronics, Zhending KY, and Taijun have received the first batch of printed circuit board orders, and they will begin preparing for large-scale mass production of corresponding orders this year to meet the needs of iPhone production capacity next year. Although Taiwan Optoelectronics, Zhending, and Taijun do not comment on individual customers and orders, the layout of each factory on the table has revealed that they are preparing for 5G orders from major customers.

In addition to addressing PCB technology and supply, Apple has made a lot of preparations for 5G mobile phones.

In terms of 5G basebands, due to the breakdown of the relationship between Apple and Qualcomm last year due to legal proceedings, the two companies should not cooperate on 5G chips this year. Another Apple supplier, Intel, is currently producing 5G baseband chips for it.

In addition, there are reports that Apple has negotiated with Samsung Electronics and MediaTek and intends to use 5G modem chips for the iPhone. Apple is also currently developing its own baseband chips by its own baseband development department.

But Apple’s moves on 5G mobile phones are still a bit slow. Samsung has launched this year's first 5G mobile phone at the recently held 2019 MWC (World Mobile Communications Conference). Subsequently, Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO and other companies also released their own 5G mobile phones.

5G mobile phones and 5G networks have just been launched this year and will not be particularly popular yet. This situation is expected to change by 2020. If the 5G iPhone is not launched at the 2020 Apple conference, it will be tantamount to market suicide.
